BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Los Angeles and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges remain at No. 1 as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the official 2023 Week 8/October 25 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls.

UCLA and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps remain in the lead in the Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls, while Fordham University and Princeton University retain the top spots in the MAWPC and NWPC Top Five Polls.

Voted on by a panel of coaches, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2023 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 8/October 25)

The University of California-Los Angeles continues a stranglehold on the title of “Best Team in the Nation” as the Bruins remain at No. 1 in the 2023 Week 8/October 25 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

UCLA (100 points), the University of California (95 points) and Stanford University (90 points) continue at No. 1-to-3, respectively, with Pepperdine University (82 points) and the University of Southern California (82 points) falling and rising into a tie at No. 4. 

Princeton University (75 points), the University of California-Davis (69 points), Long Beach State University (66 points), the University of California-Irvine (60 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (56 points) remain at No. 6-to-10, respectively, to complete the Top 10.

Loyola Marymount University (51 points) and the University of California-San Diego (44 points) exchange the No. 11 and 12 berths, while Harvard University (40 points) rises five positions to take over at No. 13.

San Jose State University (34 points) hangs on at No. 14 with Fordham University (29 points) and University of the Pacific (26 points) trading the No. 15 and 16 berths.

California Baptist University (19 points), Brown University (16 points), the United States Naval Academy (10 points) and Santa Clara University (7 points) complete the Top 20.

2023 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 8/October 25)

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges holds off the University of Redlands to retain top-billing in the 2023 Week 8/October 25 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (98 points) – which rated as a unanimous top pick last week – staves off Redlands (96 points) by two points in a Top 10 poll which experiences no movement of teams this week.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (91 points), Chapman University (81 points), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (80 points), Occidental College (75 points), California Lutheran University (74 points), Johns Hopkins University (62 points), Augustana College (60 points) and the University of La Verne (58 points) rate at No. 3-to-10, respectively, to complete the Division III Top 10.

2023 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 8/October 25)

Defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Fordham University continues its run as the Rams lead the 2023 Week 8/October 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll.

Fordham (100 points) – which continues as a unanimous No. 1 pick – is followed by the United States Naval Academy (95 points) and Bucknell University (86 points) at No. 2 and 3.  George Washington University (82 points) moves ahead of Wagner College (71 points) to take over at No. 4 and drop the Seahawks back to No. 5.

2023 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 8/October 25)

Two-time defending Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) champion Princeton University remains No. 1 through another seven-day stretch of the 2023 season as the Tigers lead the 2023 Week 8/October 25 NWPC Top Five Poll.

The 2018, 2021 and 2022 NWPC Champion Tigers (100 points) continue as a unanimous top selection, while Harvard University (94 points), Brown University (91 points), Iona University (68 points) and Long Island University (49 points) account for the remainder of the Top Five.
