BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Caden Capobianco (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) helped No. 20-ranked the United States Naval Academy to a 4-0 record at in league competition to earn status as the November 6 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

An eight-team MAWPC weekly award recipient from the league office with prior recognition during the Winter 2021 (February 22 Rookie of the Week), 2021 (September 13 Defensive Player of the Week; October 18 Defensive Player of the Week), 2022 (September 15 Defensive Player of the Week) and 2023 (September 4 Defensive Player of the Week; September 11 Defensive Player of the Week; September 25 Defensive Player of the Week), Capobianco finished the weekend with 43 saves and 18 goals allowed in 11 quarters as the Midshipmen defeated Wagner College (10-8 W), Division III No. 8 Johns Hopkins University (19-14 W), Mount St. Mary’s University (19-7 W) and George Washington University (19-8 W).

He worked a complete game against Wagner with nine saves and stopped five shots without a goal allowed during the first quarter against Johns Hopkins.  He added 16 blocks with five goals allowed in three quarter of action facing Mount St. Mary’s and capped off his weekend with 13 saves and five goals allowed in three quarter to help down George Washington.

Additionally, he posted seven steals to help Navy lock-up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming MAWPC Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 17-19, at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.

His 43 saves over the weekend raised his career total to 732 as he rates as one of three players in Naval Academy history to post 700 or more career saves.
