BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Two Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and five Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) athletes were named to the 2023 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Men’s Division III All-America Team.

A subjective selection of the ACWPC’s membership which elected to nominate and vote, the list includes 30 athletes from 13 institutions (Augustana College, Austin College, California Lutheran University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Chapman University, Connecticut College, Johns Hopkins University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of La Verne, University of Redlands, Washington & Jefferson College).

Among the institutions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps led the way with five picks, while MIT (four), Redlands (four), Augustana (three), Pomona-Pitzer (three), Austin (two), Chapman (two), Johns Hopkins (two), Cal Lutheran (one), Connecticut (one), Occidental (one), La Verne (one) and Washington & Jefferson (one) account for the other 25 awards.

All seven selections from the MAWPC and NWPC are first-time All-America honorees with MIT (four) and Connecticut College (one) of the NWPC combining with MAWPC member institution Johns Hopkins (two) for a Second Team and six Honorable Mention nods.

MIT’s Adam Ivatorov (So., Rockaway, N.Y./Staten Island Technical) is among eight athletes to garner Second Team recognition to join Augustana’s Oskar Bannister as the lone athletes from outside California to collect either First or Second Team laurels. 

On the 14-athlete Honorable Mention list,  MIT goalkeeper Colin Weaver (Sr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) is joined by teammates Bo Tignol (Gr., Antwerp, Belgium/ACS Egham International School) and Matthew Pryce (Fr., Johannesburg, South Africa/St. John’s College).  Connecticut College’s Jesse Ellis (Fr., Fresno, Calif./Sanger) and Johns Hopkins’ Owen Bartlett (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and Alec Baker (Fr., Redondo, Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) complete the recognized MAWPC and NWPC athletes.
