PRINCETON N.J. — On the opening day of the annual Princeton Invitational, host/No. 6-ranked Princeton University collected its first home win of the season with a 15-9 corralling of the No. 19 Santa Clara University Broncos.
Tas Palcza started off the scoring with his first of two goals for the Tigers. Princeton pushed the pace and jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Santa Clara. The Tigers were able to keep the Broncos off the board for the first quarter thanks to key defensive stops and two saves from Kristóf Kovács.
Head coach Dustin Litvak‘s squad went into the halftime break with a 6-2 lead over Princeton alumnus/Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur and the visiting Broncos.
Santa Clara worked to chip away at its deficit and got to within two goals in the third quarter, but would not be able to close the gap.
For Princeton, Luke Johnston, Finn LeSieur, Vladan Mitrovic, Palcza and Roko Pozaric all scored twice with Gavin Appeldorn, Nathan Banos, Logan McCarroll, Gavin Molloy and Ádám Peocz notching solo strikes in support of a seven save performance by Kovács.
