BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2025 Women’s Collegiate Club Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Preseason Polls.
2025 Women’s Collegiate Club Top 20 (Preseason)
Defending Women’s National Collegiate Club Champion the University of Michigan will open the new season at No. 1 in the country as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Women’s Collegiate Club Top 20 Preseason Poll.
Michigan – which defeated the University of California-Los Angeles by a 10-9 score in sudden death overtime on Sunday, May 5, in the 2024 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship title game at Texas A&M University – is a unanimous No. 1 pick. The two-time (2023, 2024) Women’s Collegiate Club National Champions are followed in the poll by the Bruins (95 points), the University of California-San Diego (90 points), the University of California-Davis (85 points) and the University of Notre Dame (80 points) as the Top Five mirror the order of finish at the 2024 Women’s Collegiate Club Championship.
California Polytechnic State University (73 points), San Diego State University (72 points), the University of Southern California (63 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (62 points) and Florida State University (51 points) complete the Top 10.
Arizona State University (48 points), the University of California-Santa Cruz (46 points), West Chester University (40 points) and the University of California-Irvine (39 points) rate at No. 11-to-14 with the duo of Michigan State University (25 points) and Northeastern University (25 points) tying at No. 15.
The University of Colorado (22 points), Texas A&M (15 points) and the University of Washington (11 points) stand at No. 16-to-19.
The final position in the Top 20 is shared by two programs as Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (2 points) and Yale University (2 points) round out the ranked teams heading into the opening weekend of competition.

The University of California-Santa Cruz starts the 2025 season where the Banana Slugs wrapped up 2024 – at No. 1 – in the Women’s Collegiate Club Division III Top 10 Preseason Poll.
UC-Santa Cruz (99 points), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (95 points), Washington University in St. Louis (89 points), the United States Coast Guard Academy (85 points), New York University (81 points), Carnegie Mellon University (74 points), Middlebury College (70 points), Colby College (61 points) and Tufts University (38 points) rate at No. 1- to-9, respectively, with the duo of Wesleyan University (35 points) and Williams College (35 points) tying at No. 10.
