BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2025 Week 12/April 9 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

The University of Southern California breaks a tie with Stanford University at No. 1 in the National Top 25 to gain sole custody of the position this week, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges stays at No. 1 in Division III Top 10 balloting.  Harvard University and Princeton University remain deadlocked at No. 1 in the CWPA Top Five poll with Austin College continuing at No. 1 in the CWPA Division III Top 5 voting.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from around the country based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during the season starting the Wednesday following the first regular season contest.

2025 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 12)

The University of Southern California takes sole control of the No. 1 spot in the Week 12/April 9 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.

USC (99 points) – which was tied with Stanford University (97 points) for the lead position last week – gains a two point margin compared to the Cardinal this week. 

The University of Hawaii (92 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (88 points), the University of California (84 points), Long Beach State University (80 points), the University of California-Irvine (74 points), Fresno State (72 points) and Loyola Marymount University (64 points) hang on at No. 3-to-9 behind the Trojans and Cardinal.

Princeton University (61 points) cracks the Top 10 by moving up from No. 11.  The University of California-San Diego (56 points) and Arizona State University (56 points) tie at No. 11 with San Jose State University (52 points) ascending to No. 13. 

The trio of Harvard University (48 points), Indiana University (48 points) and the University of Michigan (48 points) share the No. 14 position.

The University of California-Davis (35 points), Wagner College (32 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (30 points), Brown University (23 points),  San Diego State University (19 points), California State University-Northridge (14 points), University of the Pacific (11 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (7 points) and California Baptist University (4 points) complete the Week 12 Top 25 rankings.

2025 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 12)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges retains the No. 1 position in the Week 12/April 9 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) – which becomes a unanimous top selection – leads a Top 10 which experiences changes in the No. 5-to-10 positions.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), Chapman University (90 points) and California Lutheran University (85 points) continue at No. 2-to-4 behind the Sagehens, while the University of La Verne (77 points) rises to No. 5.

Austin College (76 points), Occidental College (72 points) and Macalester College (65 points) drop to No. 6-to-8 due to La Verne’s surge with Washington & Jefferson College (60 points) and Augustana College (44 points) staying at No. 9 and 10.

2025 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 5 (Week 12)

The No. 1 position in the Week 12/April 9 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Top Five Poll remains occupied by Harvard University and Princeton University.

2000, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023 and 2024 league champion Princeton (95 points) and Harvard (95 points) remain on top of the CWPA mountain with 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion the University of Michigan (93 points) closing to within two points of the Tigers and Crimson.

Brown University (87 points) and Bucknell University (80 points) remain steady at No. 4 and 5 for another week.

2021 and 2022 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion/2025 CWPA Division III regular season champion Austin College expands its lead to seven-points compared to 2017, 2018 and 2019 CWPA Division III Champion Macalester College in remaining the unanimous top-ranked program in the Week 12/April 9 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.

Austin (100 points), Macalester (93 points), Washington & Jefferson College (91 points), two-time (2023, 2024) CWPA Division III Champion Augustana College (86 points) and Penn State Behrend (80 points) account for the Top Five heading into this weekend’s CWPA Division III Championship hosted by Augustana in Rock Island, Ill.
