BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — University of Michigan rising junior Madeleine “Maddy” Scarth (Surrey, British Columbia, Canada/Huntington Beach (Calif.)) shot one-for-four, dished out an assist and won a sprint as Canada knocked off Argentina, 19-8, to claim 13th Place at the 2025 World Aquatics Women’s Junior World Championships (U20) in Salvador, Brazil.
She connected on one-of-one shots from center and zero-for-three action opportunities as the Canadians notched 4-3, 7-2, 3-1 and 5-2 scoring advantages in the first-to-fourth quarters, respectively, to outdistance Argentina.
Canada – which previously dropped games versus the People’s Republic of China (12-8 L, August 10) and Australia (9-4 L, August 11) before overcoming South Africa (14-8 W, August 12) to take Third Place in Group D – claims 13th place by finishing 3-0 during a series of round robin games with South Africa, Argentina and Mexico to determine places No. 13-to-16 in the final U20 Championship standings. Canada stopped Mexico, 19-8, on August 13 before upending South Africa, 12-4, on August 14.

A member of the Canadian Junior National Team which placed second at the 19U Pan-American Championships in 2022. Scarth started her tenure at Michigan by appearing in three games during a redshirt season. In 2025, she accounted for 14 goals, nine assists, seven steals and won three-of-seven sprint attempts.
