STATEN ISLAND, N,Y. — The No 5-ranked Fordham University water polo team kicked off a busy 24-hour stretch on Friday, November 7, with a 20-15 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) win over the Wagner College Seahawks.

With the win, Fordham improved to 19-3 on the year, 9-0 in the MAWPC.

Fordham opened with a 5-2 at the end of the first quarter with Andras Toth recording a hat trick in the period, while Luca Silvestri and Luca Provenziani also added single goals.

Wagner fought back in the second quarter with six goals in the frame to Fordham’s four, putting the Rams’ lead at 9-8 at halftime.

The Rams pushed the lead back to two, 14-12, by the end of the third quarter, as Silvestri and Barnabas Eppel each scored twice in the quarter.

Fordham then put down the hammer in the fourth quarter with six goals and the 20-15 final score.

With a game-high six goals, Toth became the third Ram to score 100 goals in a single season, joining Ned Kelly (1971) and Jake Miller-Tolt (2018 & 2019).  He also added six assists and five steals in the contest.

Silvestri posted a five-goal night with two steals, while Provenziani had four goals, five assists, and two steals.

Eppel also had a hat trick in the game with Diego Tresa and Marco Napolitano having the final markers.

In net, Matthew Bonello DuPuis recorded six saves and a steal in two quarters, while Kristof Magony have seven stops and a steal in his two quarters.
