BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Belene Rodriguez (Sr., Monterey, Calif./Santa Cruz) of No. 2-ranked the University of California-Santa Barbara “A” notched 20 goals, seven assists, five steals and a field block during a 4-0 Pacific Coast Division regular season finale weekend for the Gauchos at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to earn recognition as the division’s February 23 Player of the Week.
She put away three markers in a 7-4 defeat of No. 3 the University of California-Los Angeles “A” and four more in a 12-4 victory over California State University-Fullerton “A” on Saturday, February 21.
On Sunday, February 22, she helped UC-Santa Barbara lock down the No. 1 seed for the Pacific Coast Division Championship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Calif., on Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8, by scoring five times against California State University-Fullerton “B” (19-1 W) and three more in overcoming Long Beach State University (21-1 W) as the Gauchos put the finishing touches on an 8-0 regular season division mark.
