BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former Brown University standout Santiago Núñez ’19 was inducted to the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in December 2025.
A 2015 graduate of Belen Jesuit, the Miami, Fla., native scored a career-high 16 goals in 2018 to go along with nine assists and 11 steals as a senior at Brown. A three-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team selection and a 2018 Ivy League Fall Academic honoree, he concluded his time in Providence R.I., with 49 goals, 37 assists, 86 points, 73 steals, 50 ejections drawn and 21 field blocks.
A member of Belen Jesuit’s 2015 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championship team, he earned Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors as a senior. A Miami Herald First Team All-Dade recipient as a junior and senior, he claimed All-America fifth team laurels as a junior. He notched 72 goals as a junior and 65 goals as a senior at Belen Jesuit and garnered USA Water Polo All-Academic honors.
In addition, he was part of the Miami Whitecaps Water Polo Club and played on the international level for the Peruvian Junior National Water Polo Team competing in Argentina, Peru, Puerto Rico, Serbia and Turkey..
The Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools from Cuba and Miami, together with Belen Jesuit, established the Belen Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. Honorees are selected for their athletic ability, sportsmanship, character, and the impact they made on their teams and on the sports they represented while at El Colegio de Belén, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, El Colegio de Dolores, Sagua, Electromecánica, and Montserrat.
