ANNAPOLIS, M.D. — Will Swart scored four times to lead the way as No. 12-ranked Princeton University overcame George Washington University, 23-11, in Lejeune Hall on the first day of the 2026 Navy Open hosted by the United States Naval Academy.
Princeton opened the scoring and never looked back, racing to a five-all tie after the opening quarter before taking control in the second quarter. The Tigers scored seven goals in the second quarter, while holding Navy to a pair, in claiming a 12-7 lead leading into halftime.
Princeton continued to build its advantage in the second half, adding six goals in the third quarter and five more in the fourth frame to secure a 23-11 victory.
The Tigers saw contributions from throughout the lineup, with 11 players finding the back of the cage. Four Princeton freshmen recorded their first collegiate goals, as Oliver Marcin (three), Tibi Cojocariu (three), Boti Kovács and Luke Weichert each scored in their collegiate debuts.
Swart (four), Tas Palcza (three), Nathan Banos (two), Taylor Bell (two), Enrique Nuño (two), Gavin Appeldorn and Ádám Peocz combined for 15 of their team’s markers.
Goalkeeper Kristóf Kovács anchored a Princeton defense with nine saves. The Tigers also recorded 11 steals and 19 assists on its 23 goals.
