Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Women’s Division II All-America Team (PDF)
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announces the selection of the organization’s 2018 Women’s Division II All-America Team.
Comprised of 22 student-athletes, the team features players from 10 institutions as the University of California-San Diego (five), California Baptist University (four), Azusa Pacific University (three), California State University, East Bay (two), Fresno Pacific University (two), California State University, Monterey Bay (one), Concordia University (one), Gannon University (one), McKendree University (one), Mercyhurst University (one) and Sonoma State University (one) each garnered a minimum of one athlete on either the First, Second or Honorable Mention Division II All-America Team lists.
Headlining the team is 2018 Division II Player of the Year Auriel Bill of California State Unviersity, East Bay.
She is among four athletes garnering their second Division II All-America nod as Bill (2018 First Team, 2017 First Team), Chanel Schilling of UC-San Diego (2018 First Team, 2017 Second Team), Mar Pastor Alvarez of Azusa Pacific (2018 Second Team, 2017 First Team) and Julia Ponce of Fresno Pacific (2018 Honorable Mention, 2016 Honorable Mention) were previously recognized by the sport’s head coaches.
Julie Snodgrass of Azusa Pacific claims Women’s Division II Coach of the Year honors to become the first coach from her institution to garner the award. Previously, Lisa Cooper of Cal State East Bay (2010, 2017), Curtis Robinette of Mercyhurst (2016), Brad Kreutzkamp of UC-San Diego (2011, 2013, 2014, 2016), Coralie Simmons of Sonoma State (2009, 2015), Gary Figueroa of Cal State Monterey Bay (2012), Larry Sanders of UC-San Diego (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) and Tom Finwall of California State University, San Bernardino (2004) earned the award since its first presentation following the 2004 season.
The ACWPC All-America teams are selected based on nominations and voting by the head coach of each program by National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division (Division I, II, III).
Since 2005, the mission of the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) is to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo. This shall be accomplished by providing its membership with professional education, services, training and a united voice.
