2018 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Women’s Division III All-America Team (PDF)

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announces the selection of the organization’s 2018 Women’s Division III All-America Team.

Comprised of 33 student-athletes, the team features players from 13 institutions as Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (five), California Lutheran University (four), Macalester College (four), Chapman University (three), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (three), Connecticut College (three), University of La Verne (three), University of Redlands (two), Whittier College (two), California Institute of Technology (one), Grove City College (one), Penn State Behrend (one) and Utica College (one) each garnered a minimum of one athlete on either the First, Second or Honorable Mention Division III All-America lists.

Headlining the team is 2018 Division III Player of the Year and First Team selection Jocelyn Castro of 2018 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champion Pomona-Pitzer.  The award marks the third All-America nod of Castro’s intercollegiate career as she previously garnered First Team accolades in 2016 and 2017.

She is among 15 athletes to garner multiple All-America awards as she joins fellow Pomona-Pitzer player Morgan McCracken (2015 Honorable Mention, 2018 First Team); Bailey Meyer (2017 Second Team, 2018 First Team), Victoria Rose Meek (2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 First Team), Nikki Reed (2017 Second Team, 2018 Honorable Mention) and Kristi McGee (2017 First Team, 2018 First Team) of California Lutheran; Jessica Gaffney (2015 Second Team, 2016 Honorable Mention, 2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 First Team) and Roxy Kiessling (2017 Second Team, 2018 Second Team) of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps; Courtney Overland (2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 Second Team), Cara Mullery (2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 Honorable Mention) and Lucy Moran (2016 Honorable Mention, 2017 Second Team, 2018 Second Team) of Macalester; Anastacia Gonzalez (2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 Second Team) of Whittier; Katie Johnston (2016 Honorable Mention, 2018 Honorable Mention) of Caltech; April Anderson (2016 Honorable Mention, 2018 Honorable Mention) of Connecticut; and Maryn Horn (2016 Honorable Mention, 2017 Honorable Mention, 2018 Honorable Mention) of Penn State Behrend.

Pomona-Pitzer’s Alex Rodriguez picks up his sixth Division III Coach of the Year award following earlier selections in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014.  Macalester’s Scott Reed (2017), former Whittier coach Justin Pudwill (2016), Tom Whittemore of Redlands (1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2011) of Redlands, Tim Settem (2006) and Mike Ashe (2001) of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Dennis Fosdick (2000, 1997) of Occidental, Craig Rond (2009, 2007) of Cal Lutheran and Matt Anderson (2015) of Connecticut College also previously garnered laurels.

Since 2005, the mission of the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) is to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo.  This shall be accomplished by providing its membership with professional education, services, training and a united voice.
