BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Casey Barragan (So., Commerce, Calif./La Serna) contributed 12 goals, 11 exclusions drawn, an assist, five steals and a pair of field blocks during a 2-2 weekend for Division III No. 4-ranked Augustana College at the 2023 Claremont Convergence to earn status as the March 6 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Player and co-Rookie of the Week.

A transfer student from Fresno State University, she earns her fourth and fifth weekly honors of the season after previously taking February 13 Rookie of the Week status before notching Player and Rookie of the Week recognition on February 20.

Barragan opened the weekend on Friday, March 3, by contributing a goal, four exclusions drawn, two steals and a field block in a 9-7 defeat of Division III No. 6 Chapman University.  Later in the day, she added seven goals, an assist and three exclusions drawn in a 21-13 loss to Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.

On Saturday, March 4, Barragan chipped in a goal, two exclusions drawn and a steal in a 13-4 loss to Division III No. 4 California Lutheran University prior to accounting for three goals, a field block and pairs of steals and exclusions drawn in a 14-11 defeat of Division III No. 10 Occidental College,

She shares the Rookie of the Week laurel with Connecticut College’s Emma Luna (Fr., Wahiawa, Hawaii/Punahou School) who posted seven goals, two assists and four steals for the Camels during a 1-1 season-opening weekend at home in the Lott Natatorium.
