BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Casey Barragan (So., Commerce, Calif./La Serna) of Division III No. 5-ranked Augustana College posted seven goals, three drawn exclusions and a steal combined against Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Division III No. 7 Austin College at home during the 2023 USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championship on Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7. to claim honors as the May 8 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Player of the Week.
A six-time (February 13, February 20, March 6, March 20, April 3 and April 24) Rookie of the Week and four-time (March 6, April 3, April 24, May 8) Player of the Week honoree during her first year at Augustana after transferring from Fresno State University, she helped the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III champion Vikings finish 1-1 during the weekend to claim third place at the Division III National Championship weekend.
She opened the weekend with four goals and a pair of drawn exclusions in a 20-9 loss to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) runner-up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, May 6. On Sunday, May 7, she added three goals, a drawn exclusion and a steal as the Vikings picked up a 10-3 victory over CWPA Division III runner-up Austin in the third place game.
