BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Casey Barragan (So., Commerce, Calif./La Serna) racked up 20 goals, three assists, 12 drawn exclusions and three steals during a 4-0 weekend for Division III No. 8-ranked Augustana College at the 2023 Macalester College Invitational to take the February 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Player and Rookie of the Week awards.

A transfer student from Fresno State University, the pair of honors mark the third in the past two weeks for Barragan who previously claimed February 13 Rookie of the Week status.

She opened the weekend in St. Paul, Minn., by reeling off seven goals with an assist along with a pair of exclusions drawn n a 16-13 defeat of the Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, February 18.  The win marked the first defeat of a Division I opponent by the Vikings in program history.

After notching pairs of steals and drawn exclusions in a 9-8 victory over Ottawa University (Ariz.) to cap off February 18, she returned to the water on Sunday, February 19, to put up eight goals with an assist and three drawn exclusions in a 22-12 handling of the California Institute of Technology.  In the weekend finale against fellow Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III institution Carthage College in a non-conference clash, Barragan factored in six of the Vikings’ strikes by recording five goals, an assist, five exclusions drawn, a steal and a field block as Augustana rolled to a 19-7 win.
