BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lizzie Pelzman (So., Roseville, Calif./Roseville) of Division III No. 8-ranked Augustana College made 39 saves with 13 steals and a .580 save percentage during a 4-0 weekend at the Macalester College Invitational to earn recognition as the February 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III co-Defensive Player of the Week.

For Pelzman, who shares Defensive Player of the Week notice with Samantha “Nic” Darrell (So., Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) of Penn State Behrend, the award marks the fourth Defensive Player of the Week nod during Pelzman’s intercollegiate tenure as she garnered the February 21 and March 7 honors during the 2022 season prior to collecting the February 13 accolade earlier this season.

She opened the weekend  on Saturday, February 18, by stopping 12 shots and grabbing two steals in a 16-13 defeat of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).  The win marked the first for the Vikings’ program against a Division I institution in school history.  Pelzman wrapped up the day by turning aside 12 scoring tries and corralling seven steals in a 9-8 victory over Ottawa University (Ariz.).

She returned to the water on Sunday, February 19, to make 15 saves with four steals to help Augustana sink Carthage College, 19-7.
