BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lizzie Pelzman (Fr., Roseville, Calif./Roseville) of Division III No. 9-ranked Augustana College tallied 19 saves over the span of three games during the Macalester College Invitational to claim status as the February 21 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week.
A first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, Pelzman stopped 12 shots and grabbed a steal in an 11-7 victory over Division III No. 10 Occidental College on Saturday, February 19 to help the Vikings to the inaugural win in program history. Later in the day, she added four saves, two steals and a pair of assists in a 15-11 loss to Division III No. 6 the University of La Verne.
On Sunday, February 27, she concluded her trip to the Twin Cities by collecting two steals and three saves in a 17-11 loss to Ottawa University (Ariz.).
