BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lizzie Pelzman (So., Roseville, Calif./Roseville) of Division III No. 5-ranked Augustana College made 28 saves with five steals during the 2023 USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championship at home in the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium to earn status as the May 8 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week award.

The award marks the seventh Defensive Player of the Week nod during Pelzman’s intercollegiate tenure as she garnered the February 21 and March 7 honors during the 2022 season prior to collecting nods on February 13, February 20, March 6 and April 24 earlier this season.

She opened the weekend by stopping 12 shots and allowing 20 goals with a pair of steals in a 20-9 loss to Division III No. 2/Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) runner-up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday, May 6.  In the Third Place game on Sunday, May 7, she turned aside 16 shots, grabbed three steals and permitted three goals in a 10-3 defeat of CWPA Division III runner-up/Division III No. 7 Austin College.
