BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Waiahuli Akau (Fr., Pana’ewa, Hawaii/Kamehameha) of Division III No. 5-ranked Augustana College totaled two goals, six assists, five steals and a drawn exclusion during a 2-2 weekend for the Vikings at the 2024 Claremont Convergence.  For her performance, Akau claims her inaugural weekly honor from the league office as the March 4 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Rookie of the Week.

Competing at Occidental College’s De Mandel Aquatics Center on Friday, March 1, she chipped in a goal and a steal as Augustana engineered a 15-12 defeat of the California Institute of Technology. Later in the day at Division III No. 4 Chapman University, she tacked on an assist, and a steal in a 9-8 loss to the Panthers.

On Saturday, March 2, back at Occidental, Akau handed out three assists and drew an exclusion in an 11-8 managing of the Tigers prior to racking up a goal, two assists and three steals in a 15-9 loss to Fresno Pacific University.
