BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Center defender Sophie Oliver (So., Houston, Texas/Langham Creek) of Austin College scored nine goals on 14 shots versus No. 17-ranked University of the Pacific in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 14, to earn the March 15 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Player of the Week award.
Competing at Pacific’s Chris Kjeldsen Pool in Stockton, Calif., Oliver opened her day by connecting on four of six shots with three steals in a 16-6 loss to the host Tigers. She added five goals on eight shots with three assists in a 19-14 defeat by Pacific to close out an 0-2 trip to the Golden State.
The award marks the third weekly honor of Oliver’s intercollegiate tenure as she earned nods as the February 3 and March 2 Division III Rookie of the Week during the COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 season.
