BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brooke Le (Fr., Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) of Austin College posted eight goals and marked the best player from the opposing team on defense to help the Kangaroos to a 3-1 record during the final weekend of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III-West Region action at Macalester College’s Leonard Center on Saturday-Sunday, March 30-31.  For her performance, Le receives laurels as the April 1 CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week.

Le and the ‘Roos fell to Division III No. 8/host Macalester College (8-6 L), but rallied back to down Division III No. 10 Monmouth College (14-9 W), Carthage College (8-7 W) and Wittenberg University (8-4 W) to clinch second place in the final CWPA Division III-West Region standings and the No. 3 seed for the upcoming CWPA Division III Championship at Connecticut College in New London, Conn., on Friday-Sunday, April 12-14.

Le scored twice against Macalester, added five scores against Monmouth as Austin recorded its first defeat of a nationally-ranked team and punched in a solo marker versus Wittenberg.  In addition, she led a defense which limited its opposition to seven goals per game.

She becomes the third Austin women’s water polo player to notch Rookie of the Week honors during the first-year program’s inaugural season in 2019 joining March 4 selection Lexi Wong (Fr., Lantana, Texas/Guyer) and March 18 Player of the Week Presley Woods (Fr., Lantana, Texas/Guyer).
