BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Lexi Wong (Fr., Lantana, Texas/Guyer) of Division III No. 10-ranked Austin College scored 12 goals in leading the Kangaroos to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship hosted by Connecticut College.  For her performance, she earns recognition as the April 15 CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week.

The 2019 CWPA Division III-West Region and Conference Rookie of the Year, her performance at the league championship tournament in New London, Conn., garnered an additional honor as she was named to the All-Tournament First Team and received the CWPA Division III Championship Rookie of the Tournament plaque.

Competing in her inaugural CWPA Division III Championship, she posted eight goals in a 19-7 defeat of Penn State Behrend on Friday, April 12, prior to finding the back of the cage three times in a 7-2 semifinal victory over Carthage College on Saturday, April 13.

Facing Division III No. 7 Macalester College on Sunday, April 14, for the CWPA Division III Championship, she scored once as the ‘Roos took an 8-5 loss to the three-time defending (2017, 2018, 2019) champion Scots.

Wong’s selection marks her second Rookie of the Week nod as she previously claimed the laurel on March 4.
