BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sophie Oliver (Sr., Houston, Texas/Langham Creek) tallied nine goals, five steals and six ejections drawn to help Division III No. 5-ranked Austin College to a 2-2 performance at the 2022 Tina Finali Memorial Tournament hosted by California Lutheran University.  For her efforts, Oliver is named the February 28 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Player of the Week.

She opened the weekend trip to Thousand Oaks, Calif., by scoring twice in a 9-8 loss to host/Division III No. 3 California Lutheran on Friday, February 25.  Later in the day, she chipped in a goal as the Kangaroos jumped over Fresno Pacific University, 10-9.

On Saturday, February 26, she did not play in an 18-5 loss to No. 22 Long Island University.  However, she capped off the trip by scoring six times in an 18-13 defeat of Division III No. 7 Chapman University.  Chapman was ranked at No. 5 at the time of the game to mark the first win against a team in the Division III Top Five by the ‘Roos in program history.

The award marks the fourth weekly honor of Oliver’s intercollegiate tenure as she earned nods as the February 3 and March 2 Division III Rookie of the Week during the COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 season.  Last year, she claimed Player of the Week accolades on March 15.
