BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Valery Piachonkina (So., Castro Valley, Calif./Mission San Jose) of Division III No. 9-ranked Austin College registered 26 saves with 14 assists and 18 steals during a 4-0 league weekend hosted by Monmouth College. For her performance, she earns the March 9 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week award.
A three-time weekly recipient from the league office after sharing the March 4 Defensive Player of the Week award in 2019 before taking the February 3 Defensive Player of the Week honor earlier this season, Piachonkina earned the win in all four wins for the Kangaroos versus Monmouth (22-6 W), Division III No. 8 Macalester College (13-8 W), Wittenberg University (17-5 W) and Carthage College (19-6 W).
