BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brown University’s Marisol Dakan (Sr., Pasadena, Calif./La Salle) totaled 28 saves with a .509 save percentage, 27 goals against and one assist to post a 3-2 record in the Bears’ final games of a West Coast trip.  For her efforts, she claims laurels as the April 2 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

She opened the week by making four saves with a goal allowed during the firs half of a 9-3 victory over Concordia University at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif. on Wednesday, March 28.  She added five saves with 10 goals allowed in a 10-4 loss at No. 14-ranked Long Beach State University and turned away seven shots with 13 goals allowed and an assist in a 13-8 loss to No. 12 Hartwick College in CWPA league play at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center in Commerce, Calif. on Thursday, March 29.

Following a Bears’ neutral site victory over Division III No. 10 Occidental College in which Dakan did not compete, she closed out Brown’s Golden State sojourn by stopping 12 shots with three goals allowed in a 10-3 win over host/Division III No. 2 California Lutheran University on Saturday, March 31.

The award marks the third Defensive Player of the Week nod – and second consecutive accolade – for Dakan this season after previously notching notice on February 5 and March 26.  A seven-time Defensive Player of the Week recipient, she received the February 23 and March 9 Defensive Player of the Week awards during her freshman season of 2015, the February 22 Defensive Player of the Week award in 2016 as a sophomore and the April 17 award in 2017 as a junior.
