LA MIRADA, Calif. — The Bible Institute of Los Angeles University (BIOLA), located in La Mirada, Calif., seeks a part-time varsity women’s water polo assistant coach.

Under the direction of the Head Coach, this position assists in all aspects of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II program.

Position Information:

This position assists in the coaching and training of the student-athletes. It involves planning, recruiting, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, video analysis, and administration of the women’s water polo program in full compliance with NCAA university rules and regulations.

  • The individual hired for this position will work on the pool deck at BIOLA University. Depending upon program needs, the individual may be eligible for remote administrative work at the coach’s discretion.
  • Depending upon university approval, the individual may be eligible for graduate school tuition assistance.

The purpose of this position is to use athletics as a tool to educate college students. By using intercollegiate competition and all activities related to such competition, this position serves as a teacher and mentor to help build student character, faith development, and prepare students for a constructive and effective life.

This position assists in equipping student-athletes to learn valuable life lessons, including a continuous learning attitude, selflessness, leadership, teamwork, hard work, adaptability, confidence, discipline, accountability, resilience, persistence, embracing challenges, openness to feedback, a positive outlook on learning, a curious mindset, and overcoming adversity. This position typically influences student-athletes for their entire four years at BIOLA University and plays a key role in whole-person development, providing opportunities for athletes to reach their full potential while balancing their physical, mental, personal, and spiritual development.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree. This position typically requires experience coaching at the collegiate, junior college, or club comparable level. Comparable experience may include playing/coaching/teaching at the professional level or other high-performance environments, such as for a national team.
