PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown University Director of Water Polo Felix Mercado announced the addition of four student-athletes to the institution’s men’s water polo team starting in the Fall of 2025.
The class includes newcomers: Filip Josipovic, Hugo Molnar, Brody Paine and Griffin Tunney.
Hugo Molnar
Left Wing | Szeged, Budapst | Radnoti Miklos Experimental High School
- 2022 junior championship goal medalist
- Played for SZVPS club team
Planned Concentration: Undecided
Why Brown?: “Because it matched my athletic and academic interests.”
Filip Josipovic
Utility | Nijmegen, Netherlands | Liceo Scientifico Ianfranconi
- Two gold medals (U16 and U18) and one silver (U18) in the Italian National Championship
- Played for Pro Recco, one of the most prestigious water polo clubs in the world
- Won a sharpshooter award with the U16 club
- Two gold medals with the U14 Croatian National Team
- Won two bronze medals with Mladost (u13 and u14) in the Croatian National Championship
- Knows five languages (Croatian, English, Dutch, Italian and Portugese) and learning Hungarian
Planned concentration: Biomedical engineering – possibly nano-technology
Why Brown?: “The freedom you get from the university that lets me accomplish any goal that I put up for myself. I wouldn’t be able to do that anywhere else.”
Brody Paine

Griffin Tunney
