REDLANDS, Calif. — Four different Bears scored two goals apiece as Brown University bested Division III No. 7-ranked the University of Redlands, 11-2, in the second game of a doubleheader against Division III No. 8 Occidental College and the host Bulldogs.
Following a 12-5 victory over Occidental, the Bears ran out to a 9-1 halftime edge against the host Bulldogs and did not allow a goal in either the second or third quarters.
Junior Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) totaled two goals, two assists and four steals while senior Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) landed two goals and three steals. Sophomores Maigrie McDougal (Sacramento, Calif.) and Carmen Rosas (Schaumburg, Ill.) each netted two goals.
Sophomore Allison Woo (Arcadia, Calif.) posted a goal and two assists, sophomore McKenna Miller (Danville, Calif.) tacked on a goal and two field blocks, and senior Shannon Crowley (Seal Beach, Calif.) added a single goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Burns (Long Grove, Ill.) turned aside seven shots for the Bears in cage.
McDougal scored two of the Bears’ first three goals alongside a Kolokotronis marker as Brown went up 3-0. After a Redlands goal, Miller gave Brown a 4-1 lead at the end of one.
The Bears scored all five of the second quarter’s goals with Heilman scoring twice, including once on a five-meter penalty shot, in addition to goals from Kolokotronis, Woo and Rosas.
Crowley netted the Bears’ lone goal in the third quarter, and Rosas added the visitors’ only tally in the fourth quarter after a Bulldogs’ marker.
