BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brown University goalie Lauren Burns (Jr., Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) posted 24 saves with a .750 save percentage and three assists in a 3-0 week for the Bears against a trio of Division III nationally-ranked foes to garner recognition as the March 25 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
She stopped 10 shots with an assist and allowed just one goal in an 8-3 victory over Division III No. 7 Chapman University on March 23 before stopping 14 shots with two assists and seven goals allowed in an 11-7 defeat of Division III No. 3 Whittier College on March 24. Burns did not play in Brown’s 14-9 victory over Division III No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on March 24.
Burns helped the Bears open their eight-day, eight-game Spring Break trip to the state of California with three wins, extending their overall win streak to four games.
