BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Recent Brown University graduate Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) is among 10 Bears’ student-athletes to garner Spring 2017 Academic All-Ivy accolades. The five men and five women were key contributors to their respective Spring teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
A 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Honorable Mention selection, Kolokotronis garnered Second Team All-Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and First Team All-CWPA Championship Tournament accolades as a senior while she also gained Player of the Game honors in Brown’s CWPA Championship tournament win over George Washington University.
She led the team in goals (69), points (97), and steals (77) and ranked second on the team in assists (28) and sprints won (24) in 2017. Kolokotronis stood third on the team in field blocks (10) and ejections drawn (33) while scoring three or more goals in each of 11 games.
Kolokotronis, who netted 190 career goals, helped lead the Bears to a 21-10 record in 2017, marking the team’s third 20-win season during her four-year career.
The 80 men and women named to the Spring Academic All-Ivy were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team at one of the Ivy League institutions (Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University) with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.
