BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brown University’s Marisol Dakan (Sr., Pasadena, Calif./La Salle) totaled 44 saves with a .506 save percentage, 43 goals against and one steal over five games at home during the Bruno Classic to capture February 5 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week honors.

A five-time Defensive Player of the Week recipient after previously taking the February 23 and March 9 Defensive Player of the Week awards during her freshman season of 2015, the February 22 Defensive Player of the Week award in 2016 as a sophomore and the April 17 award in 2017 as a junior, she aided the Bears against No. 24-ranked California Baptist University (9-7 L), Iona College (9-8 L), No. 24 Marist College (11-8 L), Villanova University (12-9 W) and No. 18 San Diego State University (5-4 L OT). Brown also defeated McKendree University (13-5 W).

She notched nine saves with nine goals against versus Cal Baptist prior to racking up seven saves with nine goals against in a one-score defeat by Iona.  Following a six save performance with 11 goals allowed against Marist, Dakan turned away nine shots with nine goals permitted in a defeat of Villanova.

In the weekend finale against San Diego State, she swatted away 13 chances with five goals allowed and a steal.
