BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Shauna Franke (Jr., La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) of No. 19-ranked Brown University posted 20 saves over the span of two games for the Bears at the 2022 Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational to earn recognition as the February 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
A four-time weekly honor recipient by earning Defensive Player (February 7) and Rookie (February 7, February 21) of the Week accolades in 2022 prior to picking up a February 6 Defensive Player of the Week nod earlier this season, she helped Brown conclude the weekend with a 4-0 mark.
Franke turned aside 14 shots in a 14-6 defeat of Santa Clara on Saturday, February 18, prior to making six saves in a 10-7 handling of No. San Jose State University on Sunday, February 19. Franke did not complete in the Bears’ victories against California State University-Monterey Bay (14-3 W) and California State University-East Bay (11-10 W).
