BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Freshman Andu Vlasceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic “Nicolae Lorga” Bucuresti) of No. 15-ranked Bucknell University scored three times in a 9-6 defeat of No. 16 Fordham University to help the Bison clinch the No. 1 seed for the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship. For his efforts, Vlasceanu is named the November 18 MAWPC Rookie of the Week.
He scored the first two goals in the game to help Bucknell take an early 3-1 lead on the way to a 9-6 win.
Vlasceanu is now up to 61 goals and 35 assists this season, ranking second on the team in both categories. The native of Bucharest, Romania has played and started every game this season for the Orange and Blue as a freshman, and has also chipped in 37 steals on the defensive end.
The award marks his third Rookie of the Week nod after previously earning the September 9 and November 4 accolades.
