BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Isabelle Monaghan (Fr., Lawrenceville, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) of No. 20-ranked Bucknell University posted six goals, five assists, five steals and an ejection drawn during a 2-0 weekend versus No. 24 Saint Francis University and host Mount St. Mary’s University to earn status as the April 19 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.

Competing in Emmitsburg, Md., Monaghan opened the two-game slate on Saturday, April 17, by contributing five goals, three assists, two steals and an ejection drawn in a 20-3 defeat of the host Mountaineers.  Later in the day, she notched a goal, two assists and three steals in a 14-9 upending of Saint Francis as the Bison clinched the No. 2 seed for the upcoming CWPA Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday, April 24, at the University of Michigan’s Canaham Natatorium.

A first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, Monaghan is the first Bison to earn Rookie of the Week since April 19 Player/Defensive Player of the Week Paige Furano (Jr., Stamford, Conn./The Ursuline School (N.Y.)) earned a share of the award on April 1, 2019.  Further, she is the first Bucknell women’s water polo athlete to earn the award outright since goalie Georgia Lewis (Jr., Redwood, Calif./The Castilleja School) claimed Rookie of the Week laurels on February 18, 2019.
