BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalkeeper Caden Capobianco (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) of No. 13-ranke the United States Naval Academy made 23 saves and snatched eight steals in under two two and a half games played at the University of California-San Diego’s Triton Invitational to earn honors as the September 4 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

A five-team MAWPC weekly award recipient from the league office with prior recognition during the Winter 2021 (February 22 Rookie of the Week), 2021 (September 13 Defensive Player of the Week; October 18 Defensive Player of the Week) and 2022 (September 15 Defensive Player of the Week), he opened the season with seven saves and five steals in roughly 30 minutes of action against California State University-Fullerton in a 13-6 win on Saturday, September 2. 

Following a 13-7 Navy win versus Biola University, he returned to the water on Sunday, September 3, to total 13 saves with a steal in a 10-9 upset of No. 8 Long Beach State University.  He capped off the weekend by making three stops and corralling a pair of steals during the first half of a 15-8 loss to the host/No. 12 UC-San Diego Tritons.
