BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — David Lomakin (Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) of Division III No. 1-ranked Carnegie Mellon University totaled 23 goals over the span of four games at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., during the opening weekend of Men’s Collegiate Club Mid-Atlantic Division competition. For his performance, Lomakin is recognized with the September 25 Mid-Atlantic Division Player of the Week award.
He opened the weekend against host/No. 10-ranked Villanova University on Saturday, September 23, by scoring three goals in a 10-6 loss.
The defeat marked the lone setback of the weekend for the Tartans as Carnegie Mellon dispatched Pennsylvania State University “B” (17-4 W) and the University of Pittsburgh (15-13 W) behind seven and six markers, respectively, by Lomakin to wrap-up competition on September 23.
On Sunday, September 24, he concluded his weekend by making the difference with seven goals in a 15-13 defeat of Pennsylvania State University “A”. The victory is believed to be the first victory by Carnegie Mellon over Penn State’s “A” team in the history of the programs.
