PRINCETON, N.J. — The No. 16-ranked Princeton University women’s water polo team got past No. 18 Wagner College, 13-12, in overtime, to secure the Tigers’ 20th straight home victory on Senior Night.

Senior Kaila Carroll put her stamp on the game in a big way by scoring a hat-trick, including the game-winner.

Meera Burghardt netted two goals in the first frame, but Wagner took a 5-3 lead at the end of the quarter.  Shanna Davidson and Rachael Carver each scored a goal for the Tigers in the second quarter to tie the game entering halftime.

The Tigers and Seahawks went back and forth in the third quarter, as the Orange & Black answered each goal from Wagner. Trailing 10-8 in the fourth quarter, Princeton made their comeback In nail-biting fashion as Olivia Krotts scored with seven seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

After both teams scored, Carroll’s third tally of the game in the first portion of overtime proved to be the difference.

For Princeton, Carroll (three), Burghardt (two), Carver (two) and Davidson (two) posted multi-goal games with Ava Houlahan, Krotts, Kate Mallery and Kayla Yelensky chipping in solo markers.
