ST. PAUL, Minn. — The back-end of the Macalester College Invitational pitted the Carthage College women’s water polo team against Division III No. 10-ranked Monmouth College and Division III No. 6 University of Redlands on the final day of competition.
The Lady Reds exploded for a season-high 10 goals against Monmouth, but it wasn’t enough in a 13-10 loss. Redlands continued to have the Lady Reds’ number in a 19-2 decision to conclude the four-game weekend.
Facing Monmouth, Carthage got two-goal games from three players. Maddi Marsh converted her third and fourth goals of the tournament for the Lady Reds. Meghan Fisher and Morgan Fingerson scored for the first time this season with a pair of goals each for Carthage. Sophie Flott, Alyssa Schwarz, Arianna Dakuras and Kayli Sayatovic rounded out the Lady Reds scoring with a goal each.
Emma Jeronimus stopped 18 shots in net for the Lady Reds. Becca Dabrowski tallied a game-high seven goals for the Scots.
Marsh put the finishing touches on her stellar weekend with two more goals for the Lady Reds against Redlands, which ups her season total to six. That was all the scoring Carthage mustered as they dropped a 19-2 decision against the Bulldogs.
