NEW LONDON, Conn. — Maggie Hennigan (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) scored five times and Carly Strass (Sr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) tacked on a hat-trick as the Carthage College Lady Reds penned the Penn State Behrend Lions, 15-6, during a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III tournament weekend hosted by Connecticut College.
Carthage never trailed in the game as the squad jumped in front 3-1 by the conclusion of the first quarter, constructed a 6-2 margin by halftime and widened the gap to 13-5 by the end of the third quarter on the way to a nine-goal victory.
For the Lady Reds, Madi Anderson (Fr., Napa, Calif./Vintage) and Jane Eckles (So., Merced, Calif./Merced) both scored twice with Allie Boothe (Jr., Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein), Mack Ryan (Jr., Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and Jessica Graziano (So., Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) each registering solo strikes.
Maryn Horn (Jr., Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) and Brittany Pinter (Sr., Erie, Pa./McDowell) fueled the Penn State Behrend offense with pairs of tallies. Clare Jefferys (So., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Jenessa Islas-Parker (Fr., Palatine, Ill./Frema) also found the back of the cage once.
