BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Based on the current circumstances across the country, which also includes many teams’ ability to participate as well as the uncertainty of host sites, the remainder of the 2020 Women’s Collegiate Club division regular season is canceled. In addition, the 2020 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship at Arizona State University will not occur.
While Arizona State University is unable to host the national championship this season, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league office is optimistic ASU will have the ability to host the event for the 2021 spring season and will have the right of first refusal in regards to those rights.
The CWPA empathizes with those graduating students who were not able to finish their final season. The organization also recognizes the important decision many universities and teams have made to end their season in an effort to keep their student-athletes and others safe.
The league is hopeful the next few weeks will include positive changes for the country regarding COVID-19.
