BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Collegiate Water Polo Association Commissioner Dan Sharadin releases the following message to the league’s membership regarding the COVID-19/Coronavirus issue:
“We have been monitoring the situation closely and recognize many member schools are choosing to move to online instruction and suspend any extra-curricular activities, including travel to tournaments. Based on this ever-changing information, we will be adjusting and canceling competition as necessary.
No teams will be punished in any fashion for their decision to withdraw from competition and no institution will be charged officiating fees and expenses for games they did not play.
As a conference we rely on our membership to make appropriate decisions regarding their participation as they consult with experts. Once the situation becomes clearer, we will be able to determine if any institutions would like to continue competition. To that end we will be alerting the individual teams as site cancellations occur.
With respect to the post season, the Division III National Collegiate Club Championship at Middlebury College has been canceled and the National Collegiate Club Championship scheduled at Arizona State University is still pending. As new information comes available, we will inform our membership through email and will post updates on our website.
