BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Hall of Fame member and more recently championship play-by-play and in-stadium announcer George Gross, Jr. has been named to do the live play-by-play of the women’s international Canada Cup from Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada.
The stream will be broadcast on www.cbc.ca from Tuesday-Saturday, December 10-14.
Five countries will participate in the single round robin tournament: Canada, China, The Netherlands, Russia and the defending Olympic and World champions from the United States of America.
The teams will then travel to Princeton University to play another single round robin tournament at the Holiday Cup.
In addition to his duties with the CWPA, Gross, Jr. has done color commentary work on national television in Canada for three World Championships and two Olympic Games.
Gross, Jr. is the only announcer in the history of the sport to handle the announcing duties at the women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship, the National Collegiate Club Championship (both men and women), the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship, the CWPA Division III Championship and the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC).
