BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) official Tony Tonko Karaman is helping to spread the game of water polo in Ghana.

Karaman arrived in Ghana to officiate the fourth edition of the Black Star Water Polo championship at the University of Ghana, on Saturday, January 18.

Originally from Croatia, Karaman, who played professionally and coached in the past prior to joining the officiating ranks, arrived in Ghana on Sunday, January 12, to hold a meeting with officials with the aim to structure a framework for the sport in the nation.

In addition, he held a series of training work­shops for water polo officials and enthusi­asts at Lincoln Community School, Burma Camp, and the University of Ghana, Legon, and then the Awutu Win­ton SHS in the Central Region.  The meetings were to introduce the attendees to the basic rules and regulations of the sport, equipment and guidance on officiating.
