Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases 2017 CWPA Division III Championship All-Tournament Team

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2017 CWPA Division III Championship All-Tournament Team from the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, April 22-3, at Macalester College’s Riley Pool in Saint Paul, Minn.

A total of 15 players were honored in a vote of the head coaches from Carthage College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, Macalester College, Monmouth College, Penn State Behrend, Utica College and Washington & Jefferson College as a tie occurred for the final field position on the Second Team.

The All-Tournament Team is led by a trio of individuals from 2017 CWPA Division II Champion Macalester as Lucy Moran (So., Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron), Cara Mullery (Fr., Palmetto Bay, Fla./MAST Academy) and head coach Scott Reed were honored with Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Tournament and Coach of the Tournament recognition, respectively.  The awards mirror the All-Conference Team as they received equivalent recognition.

Moran and Mullery also garner All-Tournament First Team laurels with 2017 CWPA Division III regular season champion Washington & Jefferson’s Madison Nervig (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), Sarah Latzo (Sr., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) and goalie Ally Hopkins (Sr., Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) joining them among the seven best players at the tournament. Carly Strass (Sr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) of Third Place finisher Carthage and Becca Dabrowski (So., McHenry, Ill./West) of Fifth Place team Monmouth round out the First Team.

Eight athletes receive recognition on the Second Team as Macalester goalie Courtney Overland (So., Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani) and Oriana Galasso (Fr., Gresham, Ore./Barlow), Shannon Cry (Jr., Monterey, Calif./Monterey) and April Anderson (Jr., Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) of Fourth Place squad Connecticut College,  Abby Jank (Sr., Worthington, Ohio./Thomas Worthington) and Elizabeth Andrews (Fr., Newberg, Ore./Newberg/Veritas Academy) of Sixth Place finsher Grove City, Maggie Hennigan (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) of Carthage and Liz Klock (Jr., New Lennox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) of Washington & Jefferson also posted outstanding performances.
