2018 Men’s Collegiate Club Southwest Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2018 Men’s Collegiate Club Southwest Division schedule.

Comprised of Arizona State University, California State University-Northridge, San Diego State University, the University of Arizona, the University of California-Irvine, the University of California-San Diego and the University of San Diego, the Southwest Division will contest its 19th season as Arizona (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009), the University of Colorado (1998, 2001), Arizona State (2008, 2010) and San Diego State (2016, 2017) have combined to claim the previous 18 titles.

Action commences with 14 games on Saturday-Sunday, October 6-7, at Arizona State’s Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz.  Fans should be aware that the contests on Saturday, October 6, will be exhibition games and not count towards the division standings.

The regular season concludes on Saturday-Sunday, October 20-21, as San Diego State hosts 14 games at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego, Calif.

Both regular season tournaments will establish the seeds for the Southwest Division Championship tournament slated for Saturday-Sunday, November 3-4, at UC-San Diego’s Canyonview Aquatic Center in La Jolla, Calif.

The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2018 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday-Sunday, November 9-11.  Arizona is guaranteed a spot in the 16-game National Collegiate Club Championship field as the runner-up from the Southwest Division will claim a berth in the event that the Wildcats capture the division crown.
