BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Champion Stanford University assumes the position of the No. 1 team in the country as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 12/November 21 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NEWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls for the 2018 season.
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges concludes the year at No. 1 in the Division III Poll, while George Washington University and Princeton University take over at No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Polls after winning their respective conference championships.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NEWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2018 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 12/November 21)
On the heels of the conference championship tournaments, the position of No. 1 in the country changes hands as Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) winner Stanford University takes over the top spot in the 2018 Week 12/November 21 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.
Stanford (100 points) is a unanimous No. 1 selection in a Top 20 Poll which experiences changes from top to bottom heading into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship over the next 11 days.
The University of California-Los Angles (93 points) and the University of Southern California (93 points) rate in a tie at No. 2 with the University of California (86 points) remaining at No. 4. The University of California-Santa Barbara (77 points) and Golden Coast Conference Champion Long Beach State University (77 points) are tied at No. 5 with Western Water Polo Conference (WWPA) Champion the University of California-San Diego (69 points), the University of the Pacific (65 points), Pepperdine University (60 points) and the University of California-Davis (54 points) taking over at No. 7-to-10, respectively.
Loyola Marymount University (44 points), Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Princeton University (43 points), Harvard University (34 points), the University of California-Irvine (33 points) and California Baptist University (26 points) stand at No.11-to-15, with Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion George Washington University (19 points) and Bucknell University (19 points) tied at No. 16.
Santa Clara University (17 points), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (15 points) and St. Francis College Brooklyn (14 points) round out the final poll prior to the start of the NCAA Championship.

2018 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 12/November 21/Final)
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges completed the 2018 season at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 21/Final Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) leads a Top 10 which experiences major changes throughout the Top 10 following the conference championship tournaments over the weekend.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (90 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (90 points) both climb up the rankings to tie at No. 2, while California Lutheran University (87 points) wraps up the year at No. 4.
Whittier College (82 points), Chapman University (71 points), the University of Redlands (70 points), Johns Hopkins University (68 points), Occidental College (60 points) and the University of La Verne (57 points) close out the Top 10.

2018 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 12/November 21/Final)
George Washington University concludes the year at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 21/Final Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five as the Colonials captured the MAWPC Championship over the weekend at Fordham University.
The final MAWPC Top Five reflects the order of finish at the league championship tournament as Bucknell University (95 points), Wagner College (90 points), Fordham (85 points) and Johns Hopkins University (80 points) rate at No. 2-to-5, respectively.
The MAWPC featured 14 teams during 2018 as Bucknell, Fordham, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Navy, Wagner and La Salle University comprised the Eastern Region, with Connecticut College, Gannon University, McKendree University, Mercyhurst University, Monmouth College, Salem University and Washington & Jefferson College competing in the Western Region.

The Tigers (100 points), who clipped 2016 and NWPC Champion Harvard University by a 12-10 count in the NWPC title game on Sunday, November 18 at Brown University‘s Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, are followed by Harvard (95 points), St. Francis College Brooklyn (90 points), Brown (85 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (80 points) as the positions in the final Top Five mirror the order of finish at the league championship.
