BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Defending National Champion Stanford University remains the top-ranked team in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2018 Women’s Varsity Week 7/February 28 National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top 10 and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Division III), the University of Michigan (CWPA Top 10) and Macalester College (CWPA Division III Top Five) also retain top-billing in their respective rankings.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2018 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 7)
Another week, another top-billing for Stanford University as the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Champion remains the top-ranked team in the Week 7/February 28 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
The Cardinal (100 points) remain a unanimous top selection this week to lead a Top 25 which experiences significant shifts.
The University of Southern California (96 points) and the University of California-Los Angeles (92 points) rise to No. 2 and 3, while the University of California (88 points) falls back to No. 4. The University of Hawaii (85 points) and Arizona State University (80 points) remain at No. 5 and 6 with University of the Pacific (76 points) and the University of California-Irvine (72 points) exchanging the No. 7 and 8 spots in front of No. 9 the University of Michigan (67 points). A total of 11 teams end up in the Top 10 as the University of California-San Diego (56 points) and Indiana University (56 points) jump up from No. 15 and 16, respectively, last week to tie at No. 10.
Loyola Marymount University (55 points) drops to No. 12 with the duo of the University of California-Davis (53 points) and Hartwick College (53 points) tying at No. 13.
Wagner College (51 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (38 points), Long Beach State University (36 points), San Jose State University (28 points), California State University-Northridge (26 points) and San Diego State University (25 points) take over at No. 15-to-20. The quintet of Harvard University (23 points), Princeton University (21 points), California Baptist University (6 points), Fresno State University (4 points) and California State University-East Bay (4 points) complete the Top 25.

2018 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 7)
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remains the top team in Division III as the Sagehens once again rank at No. 1 in the Week 7/February 28 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
The Sagehens (99 points), who garnered 100 points in the Week 1-to-6 voting after garnering 99 points in the Preseason Poll, are no longer a consensus top selection by falling one point shy of unanimous status.
The remainder of the Top 10 remains consistent as California Lutheran University (94 points), Whittier College (89 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (83 points) stay at No. 2-to-4, respectively.
Chapman University (76 points) and the University of La Verne (76 points) remain tied at No. 5 with the University of Redlands (67 points), Occidental College (64 points), Macalester College (54 points) and Connecticut College (40 points) completing the Top 10.

Michigan (97 points) hangs on at No. 1, but the duo of Indiana University (94 points) and Hartwick College (94 points) creep closer as the Hoosiers and Hawks are now tied at No. 2.
Princeton University (84 points), Harvard University (81 points), Bucknell University (73 points), Brown University (69 points), George Washington University (68 points), Saint Francis University (60 points) and Macalester College (33 points) once again conclude the Top 10.

2018 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 (Week 7)
Macalester College, which captured the 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship, remains at No. 1 in the Week 7/February 28 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.
Macalester (99 points), which joined Grove City College (2010-2012) and Connecticut College (2013-2016) as the sole teams to ever claim the CWPA Division III league crown, continues to hold a dominating lead in the poll as Connecticut (94 points) takes over at No. 2. The Scots, who held a six point lead last week over Carthage College, continue to hold a comfortable five-point margin for the top spot compared to the new runner-up Camels.
Carthage (90 points) slips to No. 3 with the duo of Grove City (50 points) and Monmouth College (49 points) cracking the Top Five at No. 4 and 5.
