2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division schedule.

Comprised of Indiana University, Michigan State University, Northwestern University, Purdue University, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin and former Great Lakes Division member The Ohio State University, the Big Ten Division will contest its 10th season in the CWPA.  Historically, Michigan State (2010, 2014), Michigan (2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and Indiana (2013) have all previously claimed the division crown since the group elected to join the league prior to the 2010 season.

The division’s competitive format is comprised of two regional based on geography weekends, a crossover weekend and the championship weekend. During the regular season, teams play every opponent once to determine the seeding for championship. While all teams attend the championship, one team is needed to attend both regional events and not the crossover based on the number of teams in the division. Northwestern was selected based on geography and their estimated travel time to Michigan State versus Indiana.

Competition will begin on Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6, at Iowa’s Campus Rec & Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa, with 10 games prior to another 10 game tournament hosted by Michigan State at East Lansing High School in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday-Sunday, October 12-13.

The regular season comes to a close at Indiana’s Student Rec Sports Center in Bloomington, Ind., with 16 games on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, to establish the final seeds for the 15-game division championship at Michigan’s Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday-Sunday, November 2-3.

The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday-Sunday, November 15-17.
