2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Sierra Pacific Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Sierra Pacific Division schedule.

Comprised of California State University-Chico, California State University-Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime), San Jose State University, Stanford University, the University of California, the University of California-Davis “A”, the University of California-Davis “B”, the University of California-Merced, the University of California-Santa Cruz and newcomer California State University-Monterey Bay, the Sierra Pacific Division will contest its ninth season in the CWPA with UC-Santa Cruz (2011) and California (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) combining to claim all eight previous championship titles.

The division’s competitive format is a single round-robin over the course of two regional weekends and a championship where all teams attend. As there are 10 teams in the division, and teams only play eight regular season games, the matches for each team are randomly selected with the one exception that UC-Davis “A” and “B” do not play each other.  Seeding for championship is determined by the regular season standings.

Action commences on Saturday-Sunday, September 28-29, at Cal Maritime’s PE & Aquatics Center in Vallejo, Calif., as the teams clash in 20 games.  The regular season comes to a close on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, back at Cal Maritime as the squads square-off in 20 games to establish the final seeds for the division championship.

The results from the pair of regular season tournaments establish the seeds for the 17-game Sierra Pacific Division Championship slated for Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27, at UC-Santa Cruz’s Office of Physical Education & Recreation Services (OPERS) Pool in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday-Sunday, November 15-17.
